Asian Silver Carp (also called "flying carp" for obvious reasons) make fishing easy in an Illinois river.
The Silver Carp is an invasive species in North America. They tend to jump right out of the water when startled, giving them the nickname "flying carp". Due to the extremely narrow river the engine noise traveled in front of the boat as well as behind, startling all the fish in the canal and forcing the boaters to "run the gauntlet!"
