HISTROY
24 November 1980, in the Lower National Park Act NP(Est)Order 1980, the Government. Notice No. 205 in 1980, Most of the area was previously classified as forest reserves, some islands have been protected since 1934. It covers some of the land area apart and all the waters of the lake in the 100 area, Inscribed on the World Heritage list in 1984.
Experience, the clear waters Africa's third largest lake, Lake Malawi, the largest number of species of fish from lakes in the world. More than five hundred species of fish swam through fresh water, and about half of them can be found in the park, which is located in the southern part of the lake. Most of these species belong to the family Cichlidae (Cichlids), many of which are endemic to Lake Malawi.
The lake is well known for, small colorful cichlids called Mbuna, who lived in the local area and do not breed outside of their species. It has made a significant park in the study of evolution. The lake is situated on Via created by the Great Rift Valley through the state.
Most of the area around Cape Maclear, including offshore islands, peninsula and lakes are part of the park. Spread for about five miles, Cape Maclear beach has become famous throughout Africa. All travelers head here for a beach, sun, sand breaks and adventure trips such as kayaking to the islands and dive with the beaver. Lake Malawi National Park Museum and Aquarium is a great place to visit. You can also enjoy boat trips, snorkeling, sailing and hiking in the area.
