Is a representative mountain rain forest ecosystem types, low to high mountains and savannah in Nusa Tenggara, Rinjani National Park (TNGR) has received the World Legacy Award from Conservation International and Traveller (2004)and Finalist Tourism for Tomorrow Awards (2005 and 2008)of the World Travel Tourism Council (WTTC)Also TNGR proposed to the United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO)the world or garden earth Geopark in Indonesia.
Two other locations are Mount Batur in Bali and Mount Pacitan Sewu in East Java.
At first the area of Mount Rinjani is the Marga Animal Refuge established the Dutch East Indies Governor in 1941 by Decree No. 15 Staatblaat. 77 dated March 12, 1941.
Then announced by Minister of Forestry No. Statement. 448/Menhut-VI/1990, at the National Wildlife Conservation Week Top-3 in Mataram as a national park.
New in 1997 are designated as the Mount Rinjani National Park No.280/Kpts-VI/1997 Ministry of Forestry decree dated 23 May 1997 of ± 41 330 ha are located in three areas of the District on the island of Lombok.
Organizational management is determined by the Ministry of Forestry decree no.185/Kpts/97 dated May 27, 1997 with the name of the Mount Rinjani National Park Unit echelon IV.A, then in 2002 changed to Mount Rinjani National Park Authority (BTNGR)
