Gbr. Traveling with Babies
When traveling with a baby, there are a few tips to keep in mind that you may not have thought of previously. First of all, you will want to make sure you pack all the essentials, plus emergency equipment for medical emergencies. Pack plenty of clothes in a variety of layers, diapers, wipes, medicines and items to keep them entertained. You’ll also want to take a baby sling, baby wrap or a stroller to transport your children easily. Make a list ahead of time on all necessary items and be sure to check it off your list as you pack.

Although the amount of liquids are limited as carry-ons, items used for feeding your baby will not be confiscated. You can carry water, meds, breast milk, formula or baby food with you. As the plane takes off, this is a good time to breastfeed your baby as it can help their ears from popping. It can also soothe them as the loud roar of the engines, combined with the popping of the ears can make them cry and scream, irritating other passengers and worrying you as the parent. Some recommend taking along Benadryl to ease them to sleep, but if this method doesn’t appeal to you, a homeopathic medicine called Calmes Forté can help them relax.

Be sure to take along plenty of items to keep them entertained as traveling can take a long time and infants and toddlers can get bored. Good items to take are snacks, water and juice, books, toys and interactive games you can play together. Be sure to also take a soft swaddling blanket to wrap them up in to help them sleep soundly. If you are traveling on the road, take plenty of rest stops to feed them, give them a breath of fresh air and let them stretch out their little bodies before getting in the car seat again.
In case of emergency situations, be sure to have emergency contact numbers written down in the diaper bag, such as pediatrician and numbers to relatives and family members. Take along medicine in case of sickness, such as Tylenol, Baby Vick’s, Humphrey’s teething medicine and others.
